The Why I'm Leaving the Left people are starting to get on my nerves. Yes, I often have the same complaints as they do regarding toxic Social Justice Warriors, but they've gone so off the rails in their own right that I can't follow them anymore. Prominent examples include Dave Rubin and Tim Pool, but they're far from alone.

Largely agree! It really is its own subgenre by now, and people tend to perform that narrative in a pretty opportunistic and (in my view) myopic way.

It's frustrating to see people leaving the Left because their idea of 'Left' is so distorted by social media loudmouths and regular media outlets who take their cues from them. I just listened to the podcast and I think Katie was right about there being a divide between the very-online and the normies.

The Democratic Primary was a humongous eye opener for me in that regard. Elizabeth Warren appealed heavily to elite woke types, but she couldn't place above third in a single state. And Bernie, with his passionate online fan base, performed worse than he did in 2016.

The Extremely Online types may be loud, but they have very little say in the electorate. At least right now.
