Thank you for your writings. As far as Rittenhouse goes, I was practically screamed at during Thanksgiving for reminding people that he did not carry a gun with him "across state lines", that he had family in Kenosha, and on and on...many things already known last year.
But even after the trial, my progressive friends were stuck believing all this incorrect crap. And they weren't happy being corrected.
I thoroughly enjoy your writing, Jesse - always intelligent, well researched and balanced. Blocked & Reported is also a weekly listening highlight. The recent episode with you talking to Katie’s parents, oh, and the Sucking & Fucking track were 😂. Enjoy your New Year’s Eve 🍕😊. You’ve earned it 👍
"and based on what I know about GiveWell, I am confident the money I donate will be distributed wisely and will help people."
[Ron Howard Narration]: Three months later GiveWell announced that all 2022 donations would go to publicity campaigns in American swing states highlighting particularly controversial instances of youth gender transition and public service announcements declaring that parents should have no input on their children's upbringing after six months of age.
(Just kidding about the timeframe, but, as GiveWell becomes more and more prominent, it seems inevitable that it's either going to be subject to the same entryism as other non-profits or that it's going to in some manner be targeted for insufficient fealty to trendy political causes.)
Jesse I did the math if you make four dollars a month per subscription at just over 3000 you end up with $145,000 per year: don’t give away 10%! You need to triple that before you start giving money away, make hay while the sun shines. Really substack may be a bubble something may come along and destroy the economics - make your money now!
You’re doing good work but you have every right to make some money: brotherly advice from an older guy.
Also that charity that you and Matt Y are participating in is liberal douchebaggery. Be generous with poor people on the street give big tips to cleaning ladies, give 500 bucks to some family in need. Spend the 10% on your assistant who only gets 15 hours per week, make it a real job , as you grow pay her well $80k. People who need your charity are all around you fuck the big organization with all their bureaucracy.
Congrats, and thank you for providing this transparency! I remember asking all the way back in April 2019 (during the first subscriber Q+A https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/ask-me-anything-round-1 ) whether you would ever be open about your subscriber count, mostly because I think it's good for consumers to have that information.
Congratulations Jesse! Prior to this year I'd never heard of you but between the attention drawn to you by people obsessed with driving you from society plus your own talent I know pay you for multiple content streams. I assume there will be many more such events this year.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you are going to expand your horizons, please consider doing so into some more off the beaten path areas. Your cultural commentary (by which I mean stuff like the Dave Chappelle and Louis CK and Brooklyn 99 pieces) are really good. I assume you think of yourself as a science writer but you have a real knack for tackling pop culture. And since that's a space dominated by either the ultra woke or the hardcore anti-woke, it's great reading something from the regular human being perspective.
Also, more sports stuff. I'd love to hear more about how great the Celtics - and particularly Al Horford - are doing.
Great work! Does it feel like a revolution yet? I mean seriously, it's an exciting thing to see you and others in your cohort thrive.

Now, if only there were more book giveaways, like we were promised in your "Why You Should Subscribe" all those years ago: https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/why-you-should-purchase-a-paid-subscription (a bit awkward looking back at the Ask Me Anything perk and your new Callin Influencer deal...)

As a subscriber to both, how would you distinguish B&R from your own newsletter?
Congrats on a successful year! Looking forward to seeing what is new in 2022!
