When Jesse announced he was writing a book I set aside $25 in a high yield savings account to buy it. Today I used the compound interest on that $25 to order Katie’s book.
So, I had to follow the link to the Stranger to read about that hair. Good essay. Then, I found myself on their KH archive and finally read the piece on de-transitioners that got people so mad at her. Wow, such an even handed, respectful article, much less controversial than stuff she says on the show today. I still don't get it -- the fury. And her response to the response is worth reading too. Pretty funny.
Also, I am touched by the at-times-poking, at-times-genuinely-glowing praise that Jesse is showing here to Katie’s strength as a writer. Clinched it for me.
Twenty eight and a bit hours after this comment is posted, the greatest sporting event in the known universe will commence. I refer, of course, to the Australian Football League Grand Final, which will be contested this year by the Brisbane Lions (who won in 2024) and the Geelong Cats (who won in 2022). Following this event, many Australians will need Katie's book.
I went to an AFL game in liiiike 1996 and man did I love it. This was during our only genuinely international (Canada don't count) family trip and we spent huge amounts of time watching rugby and AFL. Aussie Rules Football is the far superior sport and I feel like it should catch on in the U.S.

I ordered my copy long ago. Looking forward to its arrival!

Thank goodness my daughter didn’t have the patience to grow out dreadlocks when she thought she wanted them.
Counterpoint, Ani DiFranco WAS a style icon.
Seriously, book sounds great and looking forward to reading it.
I pre-ordered my copy, but I'd love a second copy to send to my sister, a newly-minted medical resident who wants to specialize in addiction medicine!

And for a second year in succession the Brisbane Lions have won the Grand Final. Woot!
